Rooftop Theatre is a non-for-profit NGO, founded in 2003 in Nicosia, Cyprus. It has been a part of the cultural and activism scene ever since. Rooftop members are theatre professionals and amateurs, individuals who believe in the power of the arts and in their social mission. They come from many of the communities of the island, religious, ethnic and linguistic, as well as a variety of educational backgrounds.

The Group works based on the principles of collective creation and respect of individual expressive freedom. Collaboration with organizations and individuals outside the Group also come to enrich our processes, since it offers fresh perspectives and insights. Activities include workshops, theatre productions, readings, publications, participations in festivals, academic activity (presentation of the work in conferences and academic journals) and contribution in human rights initiatives.
