Ben, the Dragon and the Witch

The Pantheon Cultural Association and the Junior School are proud to announce the launch of a Children’s book entitled “Ben the Dragon and the Witch” by the author John Christodoulides and illustrated by Anna Fotiadou.
The event is to take place at the newly renovated Library in the Main Building of Junior School Library on occasion of its recent renovation and inauguration by the Ministry of Education and Culture. On the day, the book will be read by a Junior School Drama teacher and supported with visual images via a projector. A book signing by the author will also take place. The book is targeted to children of ages 3 – 8 years old, all are welcome and there is no entrance fee. Refreshments will be served after the book signing.
Ben the Dragon and the Witch was written by John Christodoulides in 2010, and explores the notions of friendship, helping each other while working as a team. It approaches these topics with humor using a fantasy backdrop which is not only based on the characters of the book but entails a mix of media illustrations.

John Christodoulides: John is Managing Director of a family business and has two children of his own. After telling several of his stories to his children at bedtime he was encouraged by family and friends to write them down and publish them. John is considering publishing several of the other stories which have a different theme but all fall under a series of short stories entitled “Little Bed Time Stories” as is shown above the title of the current book. John is also an Alumni of the Junior School .
Anna Fotiadou: Anna Fotiadou is an applied artist currently based in Cyprus, working as a freelancer in the creative industries of graphic design, illustration, video art and set design. She received a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication from Interollege Cyprus and a master’s degree in Design for Performance & Practice from the University of the Arts London UK, with a four month placement at the Faculty of Theatre, in Utrecht School of the Arts Holland. She attended courses in iconography, painting and etching in Cyprus, Italy and England respectively. She has presented her art work in exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad and has been distinguished for her work with awards within and outside Cyprus. She takes part in collective art projects and collaborates with artists from various disciplines. (www.urbanindex.net is her online portfolio)
Ben, the Dragon and the Witch is written in English and is available at the Solonion & Lemonaki Bookshop in Nicosia as well as all Early Learning Centres across the island. Alternatively the book can also be purchased via the internet at: www.pantheonculture.org

The Pantheon Cultural Association is dedicated to publish quality and art orientated book either through book’s substance or illustrations. In 2007, one of its publications entitled “Crocodile” was nominated for the state illustration award of the same year, and in 2011, another one of its publications “Flying Across Red Skies” was short listed for the state illustration award 2011.
