The Pantheon Gallery invites you to the opening of a group Mix media Exhibition entitled “The Soft City of Daytime Nightmares and Myths” on Wednesday 7th of December 2011, 8.00pm.  “Living in cities is an art, and we need the vocabulary of art, of style, to describe the peculiar relationship between man and material that exists in the continual creative play of urban living. The city as we imagine it, then, soft city of illusion, myth, aspiration, and nightmare, is as real, maybe more real, than the hard city one can locate on maps in statistics, in monographs on urban sociology and demography and architecture.” - Jonathan Raban Inspired by the authors quote – each artist will use their own technique to approach the concept of daytime nightmares and myths: characters on the outskirts, and places of memories and mystery that exist in the city’s landscapes of our society, minds and everyday routine. Through photography, illustration, collage and mixed-media, this group of artists are presenting work together for the first time: Faysal Mroueh, Julie Schleifer, Robert Der Arakelian, Zara Der Arakelian. Faysal Mroueh: On the periphery of our society, or even unnoticed directly within it, an estranged community free of routine and conventional beliefs go about their activities.
Julie Schleifer: An effort to immortalize abandoned memories and dreams.
Robert Der Arakelian: Day jobs and every day life can be just as peculiar, haunting and as unnatural as your childhood nightmares
Zara Der Arakelian: The mythological mermaid has now hung up her tail and is learning to walk through life; enjoying love, heartbreak, and reality.

Αυτή η πόλη, όπως εμείς την φανταζόμαστε, είναι, μια πόλη περιπλάνησης, μύθου, φιλοδοξίας, και εφιάλτης, είναι όσο πραγματική, ίσως και πιο πραγματική, από τη σκληρή πόλη που μπορεί κανείς να εντοπίσει σε χάρτες, σε στατιστικά στοιχεία, σε μονογραφίες σχετικά με την αστική κοινωνιολογία και δημογραφία και την αρχιτεκτονική . "- Jonathan Raban Εμπνευσμένο από το απόσπασμα του συγγραφέα - ο κάθε καλλιτέχνης θα χρησιμοποιήσει την δική της τεχνική για να προσεγγίσει την έννοια του εφιάλτη της μέρας και του μύθου: χαρακτήρες στα προάστια, και οι τόποι αναμνήσεων και μυστηρίου που υπάρχουν σε τοπία της πόλης και στην κοινωνία, στο μυαλό μας και στην καθημερινή ρουτίνα. Μέσα από φωτογραφία, εικονογράφηση, κολάζ, μικτές υλικά, αυτή η ομάδα καλλιτεχνών που παρουσιάζουμε εργάζονται από κοινού για πρώτη φορά: Faysal Mroueh, Julie Schleifer, Robert Der Arakelian, Zara Der Arakelian.
Faysal Mroueh: Στην περιφέρεια της κοινωνίας μας, ή ακόμα και απαρατήρητα μέσα σε αυτή, μια αποξενωμένη κοινότητα, ελεύθερη από την ρουτίνα και συμβατικές πεποιθήσεις κάνει τις καθημερινές της δραστηριότητες. Julie Schleifer: Μια προσπάθεια να απαθανατίσει εγκαταλειμμένες αναμνήσεις και όνειρα. Robert Der Arakelian: Η εργασία και η καθημερινή ζωή μπορεί να είναι εξίσου περίεργη, κατατρύχει και αφύσικη οσο και τους εφιάλτες της παιδική ηλικίας..
